Blending of Sounds

We are pleased to announce our spring concert, Blending of Sounds, May 10 at the beautiful Winspear Centre.
We invite you to join us alongside world-renowned soloists, and a large orchestra for a moving and uplifting journey through the world of classical and Ukrainian choral music. Hear the ethereal beauty of the unaccompanied human voice with a diverse set of a cappella music by Benedict Sheehan, Ola Gjeilo, Ukrainian composers (including two world premieres), and more.
The concert's second half features the majestic power of a 100+ mass choir and 58-piece orchestra for the world premiere of living Ukrainian composer Myroslav Volynsky's cantata Господні терези (Divine Scales).

Our program showcases a rich tapestry of songs, blending timeless carols with contemporary arrangements, all of which evoke the beauty, stillness, and wonder of this time of year.
From the haunting melodies of the Middle Ages to the refined harmonies of the Baroque period, we will perform selections that span centuries, including traditional French and Ukrainian carols. Highlights of the evening include In the Moon of Wintertime by George L. Mabry, the lively Sussex Carol, arranged by Clifton J. Noble Jr., and sacred works like Don Macdonald’s There is No Rose. We will also bring beloved texts to life with renditions of Veni Veni Emmanuel and Ecce Maria. Each piece reflects the spirit of its time, promising to warm the heart and awaken the spirit.
